PTA Registration

PTA Registration Information

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) operates DIRBS to ensure that mobile devices used on Pakistani networks are legally registered and compliant.

Who Needs PTA Registration?

  • You purchased a mobile phone from another country and brought it to Pakistan.
  • You received a phone from abroad as a gift.
  • You purchased a Non-PTA-Approved device locally.
  • You plan to use a foreign device with a Pakistani SIM card.

How to Check PTA Approval Status

  1. Dial *#06# to obtain your IMEI number.
  2. Send the IMEI number via SMS to 8484.
  3. Check the status through the official DIRBS portal.

PTA Registration Process

Step 1: Obtain Your IMEI Number

Dial *#06# on your device and note down all IMEI numbers if your phone supports dual SIM.

Step 2: Create an Account

Visit the official DIRBS portal and register using your CNIC or Passport details.

Step 3: Submit Device Information

  • Log in to your account.
  • Select device registration.
  • Enter your IMEI number(s).
  • Submit the required information.

Step 4: Pay Applicable Duties & Taxes

If duties are applicable, a PSID (Payment Slip ID) will be generated. Taxes are determined by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). Payment can be made through online banking, ATM, bank branches, or mobile banking apps.

Step 5: Approval

Once payment is verified, your device will be approved and registered for use on Pakistani mobile networks.

PTA Tax & Duties

The payable amount depends on the device model, customs valuation, registration through CNIC or Passport, and applicable government taxes and duties. Exact tax amounts are generated during the registration process through the official DIRBS system.

Important Notes

  • PTA registration is mandatory for imported devices intended for use with Pakistani SIM cards.
  • Devices purchased from authorized Pakistani retailers are usually PTA approved already.
  • PTA manages IMEI verification and device registration, while taxes and duties are collected by FBR.
  • Always verify PTA approval before purchasing a used phone to avoid additional tax liabilities.
